My DNA sample I sent in has failed. What do I do now?
Sample Failure: Causes, Recollection, and Alternatives
Occasionally, DNA samples collected via buccal (cheek) swabs may fail—typically due to improper collection or insufficient drying time before packaging. If this occurs, we’ll ask you to re-collect the sample. The replacement will be processed free of charge, provided payment was made for the original test.
To help ensure success:
- Please follow the [Collection Instructions] carefully.
- Consider using an EDTA blood sample, which has a much lower failure rate.
Note: EDTA samples must be collected by a licensed veterinarian.
