Are the Profiling/Parentage markers(SNPs) used reliable and accurate?
Orivet runs ISAG Panels 1 & 2 alongside proprietary SNP panels—including the exclusive Paw Print Genetic Profile—offering over 420 markers for precise DNA profiling and parentage, with over 150,000 animals tested since 2010.
Orivet employs a comprehensive and scientifically validated approach to DNA profiling and parentage verification, utilising multiple high-resolution SNP panels. Specifically, Orivet runs both ISAG Panel 1 and Panel 2, which are internationally recognised standards for animal genetic identification. These panels are used in conjunction with two additional proprietary panels, including the exclusive Paw Print Genetic Profile panel, which provides access to over 420 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). This expanded marker set enables highly accurate DNA profiling, parentage confirmation, and individual identification across diverse breeds.
To facilitate collaboration and data sharing, Orivet also offers the ability to download DNA profiles in Excel format, allowing seamless integration with other laboratories and research institutions.
Since its founding in October 2010, Orivet has DNA-profiled over 150,000 dogs and cats, establishing itself as a leader in companion animal genetics. Orivet played a pivotal role in the development of the first canine SNP panel for parentage and profiling, contributing foundational data and expertise to the field.
As an institutional member of the International Society for Animal Genetics (ISAG), Orivet actively participates in global research and standard-setting initiatives. The SNP panels used by Orivet—including ISAG Panels 1 & 2 and two additional panels—were featured in the first canine comparison study, with results presented at ISAG 2017, underscoring Orivet’s commitment to scientific advancement and international collaboration.
